MODIMOS Presentation Layer
Presentation Layer of the MODIMOS monitoring system is implemented by a Graphical User Interface (GUI), that performs two independent functions: management interface and visualization. The first of them enables management and configuration of parameters of lower layers of the system:
Environments,
Interoperability and
Global Monitoring Layer (for example, configuration of monitoring policies for local monitors). The second allows for selection and graphical presentation of data concerning monitored applications collected by the global monitor and stored in its database (called Internal Model).
Applications running in the environments to be visualized consist of items composing a hierarchical structure (a tree), described in terms of a model specific for the particular environment, and in terms of the Uniform Model, common for all environments (described in a
paper). GUI's main role is behavior visualization of selected parts of monitored systems or, in other words, presentation of the whole or parts of the information stored in the Internal Model. Consequently, GUI provides:
- Ways of graphical presentation of items and
structural dependencies between them,
- Ways of navigation in the items' hierarchy,
- Methods of selection of the monitored systems'
parts interesting and important for the user.
