Activity reference No.7
Year(s) in which the activity takes place: 1997/98
Type of activity: Organization of Postgraduate Courses for Non-educational institutions

Description of the activity:

As the result of the Polish economy requirement of a number of large scale efficient information systems, one can see a rapid growth of the network and telecommunication infrastructure, which is introduced gradually into commercial organizations as well as public administration and local government agencies. The postgraduate courses we plan to organize aim at training staff in the area of network design, integration and configuration, as well as utilization of computer networks and creation of large scale information systems. They will be suitable for former computer science students, which are no longer acquainted with the continually changing technology and will help them to be up-to-date with the current European standards. The postgraduate courses will be designed also for those, who mean to take on the occupations which are more in demand. They will be a help for many non-educational organizations (health care service, public administration, local government agencies etc.) in the process of introduction of new advanced techniques. The postgraduate courses will be a form of continuous short-term synthetic education which is not very popular in Poland. They will focus on organizing dedicated training as well as courses based on the UMM educational program. On request of commercial representatives from abroad willing to intensify their knowledge of Central European markets the special courses will be organized in the form of lectures, classes and laboratories. This activity will be carried in cooperation with institutions which have a long-term experience in organizing postgraduate courses. These are: MARI Ltd. -- a leading UK training and consulting group in many areas of industry, and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuvenas as well as Cambridge University. The activity consists of the following steps:

  2. Investigating continuing education courses at EC partners' institutions Courses will be investigated at MARI Ltd., the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Cambridge University by UMM's staff members.
